Edinburg’s Hometown Holiday Celebration

City of Edinburg to Kick Off Holiday Season with Multiple Family-Friendly Events

It’s time to bring out your Santa hats! The City of Edinburg invites the community to join in on the holiday cheer this year at the annual Lighting of the Tree and the Night of Lights Parade.

The community is encouraged to mark the start of the holiday season in Edinburg at the Promenade Park Amphitheater on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. for the Lighting of the Tree ceremony. The event features the city’s beautiful 30-foot energy-efficient LED Christmas tree, which will remain illuminated for the remainder of the year for visitors to enjoy, as well as carolers, music performances, and dance presentations.

Residents can also get their holiday shopping done early at the Edinburg Christmas Market immediately following the Lighting of the Tree. Vendors will have Christmas gifts, decor for sale, and pictures with Santa. In addition, to emulate an amazing Winter Wonderland, attendees can enjoy a fun train ride, carnival rides, and a petting zoo - all you can ride wristbands for kids are just $5.

The following day, December 1, the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce will host its Night of Lights Parade, beginning at Richard R. Flores Stadium at 7 p.m. The parade route will follow Closner Boulevard from the corner of Mark S. Pena Drive and end at W. McIntyre Street. Spectators can set up chairs along the road for the best view of what will surely be one of the most wonderful times of the year! Vendors at the Edinburg Christmas Market will reopen from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the parade night.

Both events are free of charge, embracing the spirit of the festive season.
